Saturday`s Division One South Round-Up

There was a surprise for Pitching in Southern League Division One South leaders Sholing as they lost their 100% record on Saturday.

The Boatmen were beaten 3-2 by newcomers Westbury United, who had only won once before this at Step 4 level.

The visitors didn’t look like relinquishing their unbeaten record at Meadow Lane when they led 2-0 at the break, courtesy of Owen Roundell-Prince after 10 minutes and Lee Wort after 35 minutes.

But a poor second half from the Boatmen saw Matt Harris reduce the deficit on the hour-mark, Harvey Flippance level 5 minutes later and then Charlie Walton win it for the hosts on 73 minutes.

Second-placed Exmouth Town moved to within two points of Sholing after they won 2-1 at home to Cinderford Town.

A terrific crowd of 397 saw Ben Brooks give the Foresters the lead on the half-hour mark.

Aaron Denny equalised 5 minutes after half-time and then the visitors had Jack Bartman sent-off in the 56th minute.

Jordan Harris took full advantage to score what proved to be the home side’s winner on the hour-mark.

Frome Town are third after they won 2-0 at Bishops Cleeve with goals from Jon Davies after 33 minutes and then James Ollis 3 minutes into time added on at the end of the game.

Larkhall Athletic are still without a league win on 2022/23 after they went down to a 3-0 defeat at Bashley in front of another good crowd of 326.

They saw Harry McGrath out the Villagers in front after 8 minutes and then a brace from Gerson Da Costa Ramos in the 61st and 69th minutes sealed Bash’s win.

Paulton Rovers recorded their third league win to date with a 3-2 success against Slimbridge at the First 4 Pools Stadium, Winterfield Road.

But they had to come back from being a 20th-minute Ethan Dunbar effort behind to win, thanks to a brace from Kyle Tooze on 40 and 68 minutes – the second from the penalty spot – and David O’Hare in the 77th minute, hanging on after Ben Hands reduced the Swans` deficit to one in the 79th minute.

Hamworthy United and Willand Rovers shared a frustrating 0-0 draw at the Sunseeker International County Ground in the day’s other game.
